Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What happens if I don't pass the course

Your course tutor will assign you additional course units and work with you until you do achieve the required course standard. This is our pledge to you

Q: Does it matter where I live.

NO, we have students from all over the world, this is the beauty of our online courses, and on tutors side they get to see wonderful variation of image.

Q: How long do I have to complete the course

Each Diploma has a time limit of 12 months from your enrolment date, although the course can be completed a quickly as you wish. 6 months is an average time to complete your course. The 12 month period begins from the start date of each diploma, so theoretically you have a minimum of 36 months to complete your courses if you book 3 diplomas. If for any reason you need to take a break from any of your courses just let us know, It's not a problem. We understand that life happens and you can't always plan months or years ahead, we are quite happy to give you more time to complete the courses, just keep us informed.

Q: What equipment do I need?

Basically you need a digital camera, and tripod, although some specialist courses will require specialist equipment or lenses.

Q: I'm only a beginner. Are your courses any use to me?

Our core units are primarily aimed at the beginner and intermediate level of photographic knowledge. The specialist courses are designed for the more advanced practitioner and therefore requires a good level of prior learning. These are a natural progression from knowledge gained in the two core units.

Q: Do I need to shoot with a digital camera?

We do prefer students to work with digital cameras but there is no reason why film can not be used, although you would need the facilities to digitise your images to submit your work

Q: What software should I use?

Adobe Photoshop is our preferred image editing program as it is industry standard and most widely used, although you can use your preferred software if you prefer. Picassa is a free image manipulation package from Google which is sufficient for our courses. You will also need to use a word processing program such as Microsoft Office Word.
