This unit looks at the range of kit available and should help you in deciding what you need and what is within your budget.

Unit Two:
Depth of Field Considerations
Because depth of field decreases with subject distance, macro and close up photography will tend to exhibit shallow focus.
This unit will show you how to creatively explore these limitations.

Unit Three:
The Abstract
Abstract art and photography is now generally understood to mean an image that does not depict object in the natural world, but instead uses shapes and colours in a non-representational or subjective way.
This unit will help you explore and create effective images.

Unit Four:
Flore & Fauna
While flowers do not fly or scurry away, insects do! Your approach to photographing insects is therefore a little different than with flora.
This unit will provide strategies to overcome problems with both of these genres.

Unit Five:
Themed Brief
This final unit is primarily concerned with the consolidation and refinement of your photographic and conceptual skills relating to close-up and macro photography.

This course is designed to build your skills over a longer time frame. With this in mind you have 12 months to complete all 5 units, although you can of course finish quicker. We aim to return your submissions within 7 working days.

On completion of the course your completed units will be collectively assessed by an internal verifier and if found to be of the satisfactory level you will be awarded the DMC Macro course, You will be notified by email of the internal verifiers award and your certificate will be posted to you within 14 days of completion. If your submission doesn't meet the course pass criteria your personal tutor will work with you to insure your achievement.
